Nov 28th

Hello everyone,

This really is a rollercoaster little journey that Ashling is having. Just when we thought she was on the mend, she had a bit of a set back on Tuesday. She was going so well we were moved to a lesser intensive ward but she started to breathe heavier and seemed to be working very hard. First impressions of an X-ray suggested that her operation hadn't been successful but later that was ruled out. It now looks like part of her lung has collapsed which sounds very bad but hopefully it isn't. It's maybe just fluid in her lung or it's maybe just over worked and has shutdown for a few days. The frustrating thing is that there doesn't seem to be any consise answers and only time will tell. She has improved but is still not back to where she was on Monday.

Thank you to everyone for your comments, they are a breath of fresh air and we love reading all the kind words and prayers of support for Ashling and ourselves. We have a good chat every night about the different comments. We were just saying that it would be great if you left an email address as we have no way of getting back to some of you. It has been fantastic to hear from some people who we haven't talked to in a long time.

PS: What's this "Gerard" about???!!!! I thought my mother was the only person that called me Gerard and that was only when I was in trouble. hehe

  1. Hi Ger, Caroline and baby Ashling
We are very sorry to hear about little Ashlings setback, the poor little pet she is putting up some battle but she is a fighter and she will overcome this little setback. We are keeping up the prayers for her everyday.
The pictures are beautiful, ye are looking very well and baby Ashling is just so cute. It was lovely to see the special pictures of baby Ciaras funeral, she is a special little angel who will be looking out for her sister, she will always be in our hearts.
We hope that Ashling will recover over the next few days, you are always in our thoughts and prayers.
Lots of Love Denise, Mam and Dad

  2. Sorry to hear about this set back but hopefully Ashling is already improving again. Can't be easy being so small and having to go through huge surgery and having to learn to breathe (when you weren't even supposed to be doing that yet!!) and not get a little exhausted some days! It is no fun for Mum and Dad either... Love the new photos, Ashling is looking great.

  3. Hey guys
We still think of you every day and really feel for you guys. We really admire how brave you are and we love reading your blog and seeing the photos of your beautiful little girl.

I can imagine that you are now both experts in paediatric care - have they let you started practicing on other patients yet? :)

Please know that God is with you every step of the way, even though it is hard to fully understand why we have to go through times like this:
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2

I'm convinced that Ethan and Ciara are having fun hanging out together in heaven and will be watching over little Ashling.

    All our love
    Marcus and Toni
