Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note to say Ashling's operation went well. It sounds like they had a difficult time finding a vein to give her drugs to knock her out and ruptured an archery before finding one. They were then unable to do the key hole surgery for some reason and had to revert to the classic way of open surgery(really know what I'm talking about here, can you tell!!!). The wound is about 2 1/2 inches long. She is now a bit puffed up on morphine but an x-ray indicates that all is well with her lung which is great news. Caroline will no doubt give a more detailed version soon.
Thanks for all the comments, it's great to receive such love and sincerity from you all. We have wonderful friends.
Really glad to hear the operation went well guys. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Dave Sauvage
ReplyDeleteHey guys
ReplyDeleteWe are really glad to hear that news tonight about Ashling having successful surgery. Thank you so much for keeping us updated via the website.
We know that you still have a long road, but we will continue to pray for the three of you. Having the surgery is a really huge step for her and we hope that her lungs would grow stronger each day. While the journey may seem really hard at times, your love for each other and your daughter will get you through it.
We admire you both and feel really blessed to have met you.
A big hug to you both (and a kiss to Ashling because she's probably not quite up to a hug just yet - soon though!)
Love Marcus and Toni
Hi Car and Ger and Ms Ashling!
ReplyDeleteThis Blog thing is wonderful... Mum and I are just having a look through it all and how fantastic to feel all the love and positive thoughts coming your way from all over the world.
Mum is full of wonderful vibes from her time with you today - Smoothieannie is such a fighter and a real credit to her parents.
I am so confident the next few days will reveal her real strength and the outcome will be positive for her little body.
Keep yourselves as rested as possible, see you soon.

So glad to hear the operation has gone well and hope that Ashling continues to get bigger and stronger. She looks like such a sweetie. Thinking of you as always and know how busy and all consuming this time is for you. This blog site is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteHi guys
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to do a blog. The photos are gorgeous! Caroline, I think she looks like you, but then again, I probably don't know Ger well enough to see him in her!
It's great to hear Aisling's operation went well. We're praying that every day makes her stronger. Who knows, some day Dan might be asking her "Willu dance?" in Riversdale!!!
I'm glad you got some closure with Ciara's funeral. I'm sure she's looking down on her sister and willing her to get well too.
Keep well
Sarah, Martin & Dan

Hi Ger, Caroline & Ashling.
ReplyDeleteWe're a bit behind on things here but thanks to Edel & this great blog we can now keep up-to-date on beautiful Ashlings progress. Excellent that her operation went so well. The photos are brilliant.
You are in our thoughts & prayers at this time, and hope it wont be too long until Ashling is in her Collins family home. No doubt Ciara is looking down giving strength to all of you.
Love Eleanor, Pat, Cealan & Conor
Dearest Ashling,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing some time.
I can't get you out of my head
just want to see you again, holding that head of black hair and listening to your aunty rohan sing her lovely songs. Well you'll probably come to know this yourself but your mum and dad are with you 24/7 willing strength into you, your nana and clan apparently have to be peeled away from your side, by all accounts you'll never want for a cuddle in life.I was quite surprised how big and strong you are and how lucid; your eyes following Dads voice and the comfort that you took with the slightest touch. Then your aunty Siobhan came along and she gently placed her hands around your feet so you'd feel secure and she pulled up a chair to sit with you through the night. I feel truly blessed to have met you baba Ashling,
